16 August 2011. Ottawa. The Conference of Defence Associations (CDA) commends the Federal Government for its initiative to restore the historic titles of Canada’s three military services, now to be known as the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The CDA certainly welcomes this symbolic gesture and celebrates alongside past and present members of the three services. The CDA trusts, however, that this symbolic act will be accompanied by continued efforts by the Government to improve the capabilities to the three services in the coming years.

Following the sacrifices made in Afghanistan and the casualties we have taken there Canada must continually maintain essential military capabilities when the Government places our servicemen and women in harms way.
